Monitoring stations, high-precision dendrometers and open data to study forest growth, biodiversity and the effects of climate change in Argentina.
Importance of Forests
Forests represent a central share of terrestrial carbon biomass and support much of the planet’s biodiversity. They are essential for regulating water, carbon, energy and nutrient cycles, while providing vital ecosystem services and resources.
Main Objectives
Establish and coordinate the network
Create a national network to monitor the growth of Argentine native forests, integrating several existing initiatives.
Assess climate effects
Analyze how global climate change affects the dynamics of native forest ecosystems.
Project forest changes
Develop projections to support decision-making for conservation and sustainable management.
Monitoring Network
The network integrates stations distributed across Argentina’s main forest regions, combining initiatives such as RAPP and RADAR to generate accurate information on native forest growth.
